Jaxen had an appointment in September that did not go very well.  Jax was "uncooperative"  according to the Doctor.  The doctor did not use toys to conduct the exam, like they normally did.  Doctor stated that he wanted Jax to have an EUA completed.  For everyone that does not know what an EUA is, it is an Exam Under Anesthetic.  So on October 23rd, 2014, Jax had his EUA.  The doctor told us that there is no red reflective light coming in or out of Jaxen's eye.  Which meant that there was no vision and we should stop all future treatment.  My husband and I were not very satisfied with what was being told to us.  Especially since when Jax does patch he can still function just like he could without patching, minus the depth perception concept of things.

I immediately called KC Children's Mercy Hospital.  They scheduled us for the following week.  At that appointment, the doctor gave us the news that any parent wants to hear, after hearing the news that we go the previous week.  Dr. Hug stated that he does have vision in that eye, even without corrective lenses.  She stated that we would need to catch up on patching and push it harder than ever.  Dr. Hug stated that his pupil, retina, and lashes look GREAT!!

So we pay all this money and put all our trust into doctors that practice on a daily basis.  How could two doctors tell us completely different things.  I cannot believe that one doctor would go all the way to tell us to give up on my not even 2 year old baby.  I am sooooo sooo sooo THANKFUL to be able to drive 3 hours away to get the adequate service that my child needs.

If any of you reading this ever get an opinion from a doctor that does not sit well in your gut.....GET A SECOND OPINION!!!! You will not regret it one bit!!
